What makes up the Music Ministry at Grace???
Several groups are active at Grace carrying out the work of our Lord in music. We enjoy a wide variety of styles in our program as well. Here’s the “nickel tour”....
The Heritage Choir - is a group of people who praise the Lord in a traditional choir setting. This group meets weekly during the academic year and sings on a frequent basis at the early service. A variety of styles is embraced by the choir and its director, and the early worshipers are blessed to have this group participate in the traditional service.
Grace Notes - is the name of the handbell choir at Grace. We have a three octave set of handbells and a two octave set of chimes that this group uses to enhance the traditional and blended services. This group meets during the academic year, and blesses all who hear them in the sanctuary services. In addition to enhancing worship, this group is also committed to improving their playing skills: they regularly participate in the Knox Area Handbell Festival and have even hosted the event in the past.
The Joy Singers - are a group of young people in the third through sixth grades who like to sing praises to the Lord. They meet during the school year and enjoy sharing their talents with the congregation during the Sunday morning worship services.
Worship Team - The contemporary service at Grace is served by a worship team that consist of a band and vocalists. The band is made up of keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar and drums, while the vocalists typically sing three part harmony: soprano, alto and tenor. Instrumentalists join the band on a regular basis as well: trumpets, alto and tenor saxophones add much to the service as does the occasional flute. This group volunteers on a weekly basis committing to an evening practice as well as a Sunday morning warm-up time, in addition to the service. They have a lot of fun while serving the Lord in this ministry.
Music plays a vital role in our lives and in our worship experience. If God has given musical talent to you, we invite you to get involved in the music activities at Grace. What a wonderful way to serve the Lord...giving back to Him what He has given to you!!
